Chairman of the Norwegian Nobel Committee visits Bangladesh

27/08/2008 :: Chairman of the Norwegian Nobel Committee Professor Ole Danbolt Mjøs and Director of the Nobel Peace Center Ms. Bente Erichsen visited Bangladesh from 15 – 20 July 2008, in order to attend the opening ceremony of the exhibition. In addition to attending the opening of the exhibition ‘Jobra to Oslo’ they participated in several events. Grameen Bank developed a detailed programme for the two visiting dignitaries in collaboration with the Royal Norwegian Embassy, Dhaka. Among others, the programme included courtesy calls on the Chief Advisor and three other Advisers, addressing the students from various universities and colleges in a public lecture, and a field visit to observe Grameen Bank activities and meet the beneficiaries. + More

The Norwegian Nobel Committee today (13 october) anounced that Professor Mohammad Yunus and Grameen Bank have been awarded the 2006 Nobel Peace Prize. Professor Yunus and Grameen Bank receive the award for their contributions in the fight against poverty. + More
