Norway’s first lady was celebrated by European Royalties and Norwegians alike for three whole days, 4-7 July. The celeb party had a memorable voyage along the southern coast of Norway.
28/08/2007 :: The jubilee started on the Queen’s birthday in Stavanger on 4 July. In spite of the chilly weather, the people of Stavanger warmly received the royal family. The Queen herself was moved to tears.
At sea
HM King Harold and Queen Sonja continued the celebration by cruising up the southern coast in K/S”Norge”. The journey ended at the Royal Family’s lodge at Mågerø on 7 July.
Historic walks
The Royal Family and their European guests visited several places along the Norwegian coast. In Lindesnes, the Queen officially opened the old Viking channel of Spangereid. Subsequently the Royal company visited Ny Hellesund, Gamle Hellesund, Arendal, Tyholmen and Lyngør. In both Stavanger and at Tyholmen the party was given historic walks of the cities.
Art lover
The Queen is an enthusiastic art lover and collector. Hence, there was no surprise that the Norwegian government, lead by Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg, presented the Queen with an artistic birthday gift: an exhibit of drawings made by children from all over Norway.
