NOMA - Building Education for the Future

From November 4th-5th a seminar for project coordinators in the NOMA programme (Norad's Programme for Master Studies) was held in Dhaka. The theme of the seminar was "NOMA - Building Education for the Future".

20/11/2008 :: NOMA provides financial support to develop and run Master Degree Programmes where higher education institutions in the South and corresponding institutions in Norway cooperate. The programme is financed by the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad) and managed by SIU (Norwegian Centre for International Cooperation in Higher Education).

Ambassador Ingebjørg Støfring spoke at the opening session of the seminar, emphasizing the “Investment in higher education as a mean to create sustainable economic and social development”. Around 130 project coordinators and administrators from several continents participated in the 2-day seminar at Sheraton Hotel in Dhaka.

Currently, the participating institutions in the NOMA programme in Bangladesh are BUET (Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology), Dhaka University, BIHS (Bangladesh Institute of Health Science)/BIRDEM (Bangladesh Institute of Research and Rehabilitation for Diabetes, Endocrine and Metabolic Disorders) and North-South University.
