The world’s most successful alpine skier ever has announced that he is retiring.
14/01/2007 :: Kjetil Andre Aamodt announced his retirement from his professional sports career at the annual banquet for Norway’s top athletes in Hamar Olympic Stadium on Saturday 6 January. He received four awards, including a Norwegian award for the best male athlete of 2006. Aamodt thanked his family and support team for their contribution to his long and successful career.
Aamodt has won 20 Olympic and World Championship medals, of which four were Olympic gold medals and five were World Championship gold medals.
