The exhibition "Shades of Life" was inaugurated on 17 Ocotober 2007 at Bengal Gallery of Fine Arts. This is a collective exhibition by 12 female artists. Norwegian Ambassador Ingebjørg Støfring inaugurated the event together with Ms. Geeteara Safiya Choudhury, Adviser of Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh.
19/10/2007 :: 'I appreciate the opportunity to see such beautiful paintings,' said Ambassador Støfring in her speech. She admires the bright colours which are often seen in the rich and living fine arts tradition in Bangladesh.
The paintings were all made by artists associated with Shako - an organisation for Bangladeshi female artists. Shako came into life four years ago, and has since then actively contributed in the fine arts scene in Dhaka. Ambassador Støfring thanked the Shako members for their efforts to foster a healthy exchange of ideas, openness and diversity, contribute towards social awareness, shed light on women’s issues, and contribute something towards social welfare for less privileged people.
