The Theatre Institute Chittagong (TIC) in co-operation with the Norwegian Embassy and Centre for Asian Theatre, Dhaka, inaugurated the Ibsen Commemoration 2006 in Chittagong on Thursday 26 January 2006 by hosting an Ibsen seminar and a performance of "Willful Death", a play based on Henrik Ibsen's famous drama "Rosmersholm".
28/11/2006 :: This first day of the Ibsen celebrations in Chittagong started with welcome addresses by Ambassador Aud Lise Norheim (text available below), Dr. Anupam Sen, Mr. Ketil Jensehaugen, Mr. Kamaluddin Nilu, Mr. Ranajit Rakshit and Mr Abhijit Sengupte.
At the seminar, key note speakers Mr. Mainul Hasan Chowdhury and Dr. Mohibul Aziz presented their keynote papers "Henrik Ibsen's Nora and Doll-wives of Bangladesh" and "On the Death Centenary of Henrik Ibsen" followed by discussions.
In the evening programme, the Chittagong audience were presented with "Willful Death", a play based on Henrik Ibsen's famous drama "Rosmersholm", adapted and directed by Mr. Kuntal Barua.
