Norway has well established cultural relations with Bangladesh, both when it comes to cultural exchange and support to institution building. On 21 May 2008, a new contract in this field was signed by the Norwegian Ambassador to Bangladesh and the General Secretary of Chhayanaut, a highly reputed cultural organisation in the country.
01/06/2008 :: Under this project, Chhayanaut will establish a resource centre for performing arts with an extensive archive for items related to music and culture. A digital archive and a modern recording studio will also be established. Ambassador Ingebjørg Støfring signed the contract on behalf of Norway and General Secretary Khairul Anam Shakil signed the contract on behalf of Chhayanaut. Professor Dr. Sanjeeda Khatoon, President and Mr. Sarwar Ali, Treasurer of Chhayanaut were also present during the signing of the contract. The project will be implemented during the period June '08 - March '09. On completion of the implementation, the Resource Centre is expected to run on self sustainable basis.
