On 14.09.04 Norway and Bangladesh signed the agreement "Avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income".
From the Bangladeshi side the agreement was signed by the Chairman of the National Board of Revenue, Mr. Khairuzzaman Chodhury. Ambassador Ms. Aud Lise Norheim signed the agreement on behalf of Norway.
According to the agreement, profits of Norwegian enterprises in Bangladesh shall only be taxable in Bangladesh. The same rule applies for Bangladeshi companies in Norway.
The agreement also covers fiscal evasion. If a Bangladeshi citizen residing in Norway has income that shall be taxed in Bangladesh, Norway has the right to deduct tax from his income. The same rule is applicable for Norwegian citizens residing in Bangladesh.
The agreement entered into force immediately.
