The Embassy's Priority Areas

Last updated: 02.09.2013 // The Embassy has primarily three strategic objectives, which are seen in close connection: business cooperation and private sector development; political dialogue on issues of mutual interest; and development cooperation.

The Embassy fosters business cooperation between Norwegian and Bangladeshi companies and private sector development in Bangladesh, e.g. through assisting established actors, such as Telenor. Through the Business Matchmaking Program the Embassy serves as a door opener, and facilitates visits from Norwegian companies.

Norway maintains a close dialogue with Bangladeshi authorities on bilateral, regional and international issues, both in bilateral and international forums. In 2013 the Norwegian Minister of Commerce and Trade, Trond Giske, and the Minister of International Development, Heikki Holmås, visited Bangladesh and met with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Minister of Foreign Affairs Dipu Moni, and other ministers from the Bangladeshi government.

Regarding development cooperation our focus is on climate change/disaster preparedness and human rights/women’s rights.
