The International Ibsen Scholarships were initiated by the Norwegian government and will be handed out for the third time in 2010.
The scholarships are meant to act as incentives for critical discourse in regards to existential and society-related subject matters concerning Henrik Ibsen. Scholarships are applicable to individuals, organizations or institutions within the artistic and cultural communities, and projects throughout the world are encouraged to apply.
Scholarship funds amount to a total of NOK 1 000 000.
The International Ibsen Scholarships are awarded annually and the applications are subject to scrutiny by an appointed jury. Projects from Asia, North-America, Europe, Africa and Australia have previously received scholarships.
The presentation of the scholarships is staged in Ibsen's birth town, Skien in Norway, in September 2010 and coincides with Skien International Ibsen Conference.
The application deadline for The International Ibsen Scholarships is April 15th, 2010.
Application form, statutes, and contact information can be found on the Ibsen Awards website.
