Norwegian Church Aid (NCA) General Secretary visited Bangladesh

Norwegian Church Aid (NCA) General Secretary Atle Sommerfeldt and Bishop Halvor Nordhaug visited Bangladesh and NCA partners March 1-6th 2010. NCA is a Norwegian NGO working to promote basic human rights rights, irrespective of gender, political conviction and ethnic origin. NCA cooperates with organizations in a large number of countries. Bangladesh is defined as a “focus country”, and  a special priority for NCA and its local partners is climate change adaptation, gender issues and livelihood and economic development.

On a six day visit to Bangladesh, General Secretary Atle Sommerfeldt and Bishop Halvor Nordhaug visited several partners and projects in the country, including CCDB (Christian Community Development in Bangladesh), BCAS (Bangladesh Centre for Advanced Studies), RDRS (Rangpur Dinajpur Rural Service), and STEPS (STEPS Toward Development). Projects were visited in Dhaka, Gopalgonj and Bamna. Ambassador Ingebjørg Støfring attended a gathering held for Norwegian organizations and its partners working on development issues in Bangladesh.
