The Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD) and Chr. Michelsen Institute (CMI), Norway jointly signed a contract with the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 23 June 2010 at CPD to conduct a collaborative research focusing on Inclusive Growth and Good Governance.

The Royal Norwegian Embassy in Dhaka and Manushur Jonno Foundation (MJF) recently signed a contract for supporting human rights and good governance activities in Bangladesh. MJF will receive 60 million NOK (approximately 63 crore Taka) over a period of three years. The purpose of the cooperation contract is that the poor and vulnerable people, particularly women and children have access to measurable better quality services and enjoy improved security.

Foreign Minister Dipu Moni visited Norway last week to attend the climate change conference on melting ice held in the arctic city Tromsø 28th of April. Nobel Laureate Al Gore and Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs Jonas Gahr Støre were hosting the conference. The aim was to produce a joint statement that can provide input for the climate conference in Copenhagen later this year.

Norwegian development co-operation with Bangladesh started in 1973, and for many years Bangladesh was a main partner country. Over the years Bangladesh has been among the largest recipients of Norwegian development assistance with a total of around 6 billion NOK. Bangladesh has had relatively good economic and social development over many years and has gradually become less dependent on foreign assistance.
