ASK has been working for the promotion of human rights within a democratic framework since 1986. At the signing, Ms. Sultana Kamal underlined how the people of Bangladesh, in spite of facing many obstacles in their daily life, possess a huge potential in bringing the country forward.
Through the new project, ASK will work for the realization of human rights by encouraging establishment of a non-discriminatory, democratic society where dignity, fundamental freedoms and rights of all citizens are guaranteed and in compliance with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) and the Constitution of Bangladesh.
Norway has been supporting ASK since 1995. Expressing her pride in supporting the project, Ambassador Lund emphasized the importance of equal access to justice for both men and women. The hope is that ASK, through the Norway-supported project, will empower women in the areas of justice, democracy and human rights.
