Embassy delegation's visit to the CHT

Last updated: 13.08.2014 // From 15th to 17th of July 2014, a delegation from the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Dhaka paid a visit to Rangamati District in the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT). The purpose of the visit was to make a courtesy to local authorities and to meet with representatives of various development programs and projects. Below are selected pictures from the trip.

From time to time, disputes over land commonly arise between tribal people and Bengali settlers in the CHT. Together with her delegation, the Ambassador met with local civil society leaders engaged in a UNDP supported peacebuilding project in Rangamati District. The civil sociey leaders, known as Peace Makers, facilitate peaceful settlement of those disputes that are not taken to court.
