This is the second time the European Film Festival is taking place in Dhaka. The goal is to make European movies more known and more popular in this part of the world. The fact that all the movies have to be approved by Bangladesh Film Censor Board before they can be shown in public can be a challange. Not all European movies are accepted by the board. But also this year the European countries participating in the festival managed to get one film each through the censorship.
Norway`s contribution is a movie from 2008 called “99% honest” directed by Rune Denstad Langlo. The film is about four Norwegian youth and their hip-hop group “United Minorities”. The name of the band refers to the fact that, although they all live in the Norwegian capital Oslo, none of them was born there. This film tells the story about a piece of contemporary Norway in an unexpected, warm, unbiased and moving way.
