The topic of the panel discussion materialized from the research resulting from a 3-year research cooperation between the Chr. Michelsen Institute (CMI) of Norway, and the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD) of Bangladesh. The event was organized to share the CPD-CMI research findings with the business community and spur a discussion that could use the findings for private sector development in Bangladesh.
The panel featured the CEO of the Public Private Partnership Office (PPO), Mr. Syed Afsor H Uddin, the Chairman of Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA), Mr. Paban Chowdhury, and the CEO of Business Initiative Leading Investment (BUILD), Ms. Ferdaus Ara Begum. Ms. Parveen Huda, the Deputy Policy Advisor for the Skills and Employment Programme moderated the session.
The Deputy Head of Mission of the Royal Norwegian Embassy, Mr. Arne Haug, delivered the opening remarks. Mr. Khondaker Moazzem, the Additional Research Director of CPD delivered the keynote presentation preceding the panel discussion. Mr. Moazzem presented the findings from four research papers under the CPD-CMI cooperation that focused on Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the energy industry in Bangladesh and entrepreneurship. The panel entertained questions from the audience and discussed FDI and entrepreneurship in Bangladesh on a broader scale. Mr. Søren Kannik, Vice President of NCCI delivered the closing remarks.
