Ambassador Ingebjørg Støfring

Ambassador Ingebjørg Støfring presented the letters of credence accrediting her as Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway to the People's Republic of Bangladesh on 26 September 2006. Ambassador Støfring has a broad professional background from international development work for the Norwegian Government since 1980.  She has been a Senior Adviser in the UN Section, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as a Senior Executive Officer in the  Ministry of Development Cooperation. She has also held various important posts in the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad), a directorate under the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) - in the Regional Department and the Unit for Gender and Environment, Director General's Office.
Ambassador Støfring has previously been posted in the following Norwegian Embassies:
Zimbabwe, Harare, Minister Counsellor, 2001 - 2004
South Africa, Pretoria, Counsellor/First Secretary, 1994 - 1998
Tanzania, Dar es Salaam, First Secretary, 1992 - 1994
Kenya, Nairobi, Programme Officer, 1980 - 1983
She has been a member of a number of organisations including Nordic Women in Development Group, OECD/DAC Women in Development Group, Norwegian Civil Engineers' Committee on Development Issues and The Committee for Research on Women and Development, Norwegian Research Council for Applied Social Science.
Ambassador Støfring holds an MA degree  in Development Studies from University of East Anglia, Norwich, United Kingdom. Furthermore she has studied sociology at University of Oslo,  and has a diploma in Social Work from Diakonhjemmet Hospital and University College, Oslo.
